Couples Session at the Bowling Lanes // Joy + Wes

Poppies dancing in a field. A cold breeze in your hair on a golden mountaintop. Leaves whooshing up into the sky on sudden a gust of wind. Twinkling raindrops in the afternoon sunshine. A firework.

This is what Joy and Wesley’s love feels like to me, looking in at it from my side of the lens.

Playful. Gentle. Meaningful. Can you feel it too?

These two are such sincere humans, and truly good at just having fun.
Upon first meeting up with Joy for coffee, I instantly felt like family. Going on this little adventure to the lanes with her and Wes was more of the same. They love tenderly, boldly, and sacrificially. Watch out though, they can get competitive (sorry for ruining your bowling frame with my silly posing, you guys).

I’m going to be thinking about this session for a while. Joy and Wes have been bowling together for a long time, and–you guys?–it was such a privilege to peek in and document some of this pastime they share together. Next time we will need to schedule in a sushi stop, hmm…

So far so fun, right? It gets better.

But first, a quick note to couples in love–whether you’re getting married next month or haven’t even talked about marriage: your couples session can (dare I say should?) be fun.

It’s becoming more common to plan your engagement/couples session as if it were just a fun date, and I fully support this.

Between you and your person, chances are you outnumber your photographer 2:1, and your opinions matter! If there are activities you and your love enjoy doing together, it never hurts to throw out ideas.

Pickleball? Jam session? Disc golf? Coffee shop hangs? Bicycling? Reading? Chess? Sky’s the limit, really. We can make these photos so fun, and so you.

Okay, getting off my soap box. On to the bowling lanes!
