A Picnic in the Hills // Erin + Lucas

You know that feeling on a chilly night around a bonfire when you put your feet up to rest on the rim of the fire pit, and you can feel the warmth slowly spreading up to the rest of your body? It always seems to skip the shins, but you get what I mean, right?

That’s what being with Erin and Lucas felt like to my heart. My cold little feet getting warm again when I was just starting to want to go inside.

The love they share is soft, authentic, and fun-loving. It was pure delight to see their tenderness and how they make each other laugh.

These two are gentle souls and a little camera shy. The romantic in me got all fluttery when Erin told me they wanted to have a picnic for their engagement session to help them keep their focus on each other (not me) while the shutter was clicking away.

If you’re debating whether or not to do an engagement session with your wedding photographer, or even if you already had someone else take your photos, this is your sign to do it!

We squeezed this session in within weeks of them saying “I do,” and it was worth every minute. Engagement sessions (with your hired wedding photographer) are a perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer, get a feel for how they will guide you through posing prompts, and build trust and familiarity so you will be able to stay fully present on your wedding day.
